USRA SS Boxcar Sill Step
This bent brass sill step
represents the appliance installed on the 25,000 USRA single sheathed boxcars,
as represented by the S Helper Service and Amity Star Models cars. This product is very close to true scale,
being formed from .010 X .030 flat brass wire. This scales out to 1 15/16” by 5/8”, compared to the
prototypes 1 ¾” by ½”. The step is
12 scale inches wide and 10 scale inches tall to conform to the prototype. Included is a length of .022” wire to
pin the step to the car body and to replicate the prototype’s riveted
construction. Four sill steps are
included.
