PASSENGER CAR UPGRADE & CONVERSION KITS
Standard Railway Castings Company is currently working on a series of upgrade and conversion kits to assist in modeling a variety of Pullman passenger car floor arrangements These kits will rely on an American Models heavyweight Pullman car as a core. As modeled, the AM cars represent 2 common styles of late 1920's built sleeping cars, each 74'6" over end sills: Plan 3410 12 section-1 drawing room cars and Plan 3585 10 section-1 drawing room-2 compartment cars. All the window inserts, roof AC duct components, and other parts used in these kits will also be made available separately in order to make it possible to model other Pullman Plans not listed below.
The passenger car upgrades and conversions will require the modeler to supply an appropriate American Models Pullman car. Each conversion kit will contain the urethane window inserts and AC duct components required to convert the car, conversion instructions with full car diagrams, plus guidance in selecting and installing brass BTS underbody components to match the air conditioning system and brake arrangement your car requires.
Other components are being planned, and will be included in the conversion kits as is feasible and necessary: new flush glazing material, new diaphragm gates, drip rails, and additional underbody components. Full length single window and paired window coach inserts and other similar passenger car components may be considered if demand warrants.
