6' 4/5/5 Improved Youngstown Door
Shortly after WWII, Standard Railway Equipment Manufacturing Company developed a new version of
their Youngstown door. It featured a raised, riveted seam between each of the three panels
and a single door lever centered at the bottom. The associated starting mechanism was
located internally. This polyurethane casting represents a 6 foot wide door with with 4/5/5
corrugations, first installed in 1945, and used on cars with 10’6” IH. Roads that used this
style door include: CB&Q, CNR, CNW, IC, NYC, SERX, and WAB. SRCC offers kits for the following roads that purchased
cars with this door: CB&Q,
CNW, and
NYC. DR-01-----------------------------------$6.00 |
